Since having kids, this couple has felt a lack of storage in this home as well as having a lack of connection to the family room.  With that in mind, we opened up the kitchen to the living room and added a wall of tall cabinets which greatly improved their lives.  Because opening up the rooms to each other required a steel beam be installed, we used it as an opportunity to paint the drywall around it black which added a dynamic frame.
